In a bid to resist illegal felling of timber by outsiders with the help of locals, the forest personnel are seeking close cooperation of the people living adjacent to forest areas. The West Kamrup Forest Division of Assam has organized a public meeting at Jowakhuli, a beautiful forest spot about nine km from Boko township on May 23, and 5 joint forest management committees involving the local people have been constituted for the sake of protecting and conserving of the flora and fauna. The meeting was presided over by Keroline Sangona, president, No 9 South-West Boko Goan Panchayat.
