A division bench of Kerala High Court granted four weeks' time to the State Government to furnish the list of people who were found to have encroached on forest land after January 1, 1977, and evicted thereupon and those who had been evicted in the last one year. The directions were issued by the bench comprising Chief Justice J L Gupta and Justice A K Basheer, on a public-interest petition by Nature Lovers Movement, Thiruvankulam, seeking to evict encroachers of forest land prior to January 1, 1977.
