govt seeks world help : The Pakistan government has called for international help to fight widespread fire in Neelum valley forests. "There is a dire need of international help to control this menace. This may be in the form of fire fighting planes with necessary chemicals to more conventional equipment and even financial help," said an official in the Kashmir affairs ministry. Though the forest department personnel with the assistance of local people are trying their best to control the widespread fires but prolonged drought, minefields along the LOC, steep and rugged terrain, and lack of fire fighting equipment and other material resources are serious impediments in the success of this effort.
