A large-scale joint forest management (JFM) programme has been undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh forest department with assitance from the World Bank in the Kempty village region of Mussoorie's forest area. The project was aimed at saving the forests as well as bringing about sustainable development in the village, according to state forest minister Ganga Bux Singh who told reporters at DehraDun about the World Bank aided project.
