In recent years, the forests of Assam have been alarmingly depleted due ot a host of anthropogenic factors. Like other states of the North-east, having 64% average land of forest cover. Assam was also endowed with plenty of forest resources covering about 39% of average area. But in these years a host of man-involved factors are changing its natural environment. Now the forests of Assam are fast losing their splendour and regenerative capacity due to uncontrolled deforestation, human advance and economic exploitation.
