It would not be possible for the UDF Government to ensure cultivable land to all landless tribal families in the State without making necessary amendments in the Forest Protection Act of 1980, according to SC/ST Welfare Minister M A Kuttappan. Speaking after distributing land documents to as many as 42 inhabitants of the farm of Kodanchery Scheduled Tribe Group Farming Cooperative Society at Vattachira near Thusharagiry here on Thursday evening, Kuttappan opined the Central Act, which ensured safe protection of wild animals, was responsible for the forcible eviction of the tribals.
