Forest Protection Force set up, smuggling to be curbed

Tripura Government set into operation the Forest Protection Force, first of its kind in the State to check rampant smuggling of forest produces, movement of insurgents in the forest, and to improve infrastructure of forest resources. The first batch of the State owned Forest Protection Forces with 138 cadres including a solitary female cadre passed out from the Sipahijala Forest Training School. Principal of the Forest Training Institute, Mr Prasenjit Biswas told newsmen, that the jawans have been trained with sophisticated weapons like AK-47, carbine, self loading rifle (SLR) and others.
