Forest sector works reviewed in Reasi

REASI, Sep 2 : To assess the pace of development works initiated under forest sector in Reasi district during the current year, a meeting was convened here at Reasi today. The District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Sanjeev Verma chaired the meeting while Divisional Forest Officer, Reasi and Mahore and DFO Social Forestry Reasi participated in the meeting. Threadbare discussions were held with regard to various development works initiated in all the three forest divisions of the Reasi district viz Reasi, Mahore and Nowshera. It was apprised in the meeting that Rs.15 lakh are being spent for development works in Nowshera forest division while Rs.6 lakh in Reasi and Rs.5.30 lakh in Mahore forest division. The District Development Commissioner issued on the spot instruction to concerned DFOs to carry out the already initiated works under various forest development schemes in a very transparent manner for their early completion. The main thrust was laid for more plantations and raising of new nurseries and maintenance of the existing ones with more and more plantation so that the more area is covered under greenery. The work of degraded forests of the district was also came under active discussion during the meeting. Verma asked the DFO Social Forestry to prepare a detailed report of degraded forest area and submit the same with in one month for further perusal.
