More than $384 million in revenues from timber sales, mineral resources, grazing fees and other uses of Forest Service lands have been distributed to 41 states and Puerto Rico. Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman announced the release of the funds, which are intended to help rural communities improve public schools, invest in road improvement projects, and strengthen forest stewardship programs.
