The Forest Department, which has been carrying out a survey in the reserved forests of Chikmagalur district with the help of the Survey of India, is in a bind following threats by encroachers and restrictive orders from an indifferent state government.The department, which took up the high-profile survey following a Supreme Court order, suspended work on January 11 after Survey of zindia officials received death threats.
