Four Ganga Authority members threaten to quit

Sunny Sebastian JAIPUR: Four members of the newly-constituted National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) have threatened to resign following a report of the Group of Ministers recommending renewal of construction of the Loharinag Pala hydro-electric project on the Bagirathi river. Four out of the nine expert members in the NGBRA, including Magsaysay Award winner Rajendra Singh, have verbally communicated their decision to Union Minister of State for Forests and Environment Jairam Ramesh. NGBRA, set up in February 2009, has the Prime Minister as its chairman and the Chief Ministers of the Ganga basin States
