A salient revolution in the hydel power generation history, is in the final stages at the Sahyadri ranges in Western Maharashtra. The inauguration of the first unit of the 4 x 250-MW underground powerhouse of the Koyana stage-IV project by the chief minister, Mr. Narayan Rane, leads to the near completion of the project which was conceived way back in 1968.
