French tests pose no big risk

The world's atomic watchdog said that although France's nuclear testing in the South Pacific had posed no health risks, this conclusion should not be considered a carte blanche for further tests. The International Atomic Agency, in a report on the current and future effects of the tests in French Polynesia from 1966 to 1996, said lingering radiation levels were so low that they could not be medically diagnosed.
