'Friends of Trees' has appealed to Union Environment and Forest Minister T R Baalu to order a probe, by an independent competent agency unliable to be influenced by the Kerala State Government, into the encroachment of nearly 1,200 acres of forest land at Mathikettan Mala, allegedly with the "active and direct" connivance of the Government.
