This year's theme for the day is "Plant more fruit-bearing saplings, have improved health, nutrition and money." President Iajuddin Ahmed and Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed have issued separate messages on the occasion. In his message, Iajuddin stressed the need for ensuring nutrition apart from achieving food security to protect people's health. He said the fruit-bearing trees will supply nutrition, keep environmental equilibrium, fulfill the demand of timber and play important role in the national economy. "So, plantation of fruit-bearing trees alongside the forest trees is necessary,' he added. The president called upon the countrymen to plant more fruit-bearing trees during the current season. The chief adviser, in a separate message, said balanced diet is important for leading a healthy life and vitamin and minerals of balanced diet mostly come from fruits. "Realising its significance, people should plant local fruit-bearing trees on the fallow lands of their homesteads, office and educational and religious institutions in planned way according to the soil and environment condition,' he said.
