Japanese scientists have developed a new fuel treatment that could radically reduce emissions from truck diesel engines. The technology could allow US vehicle manufacturers to meet new emission standards due to be agreed with the country's Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday 22 October. After eighteen years of work the researchers perfected the liquid treatment, calledSoltron. US firm Solpower, based in Scottsdale, Arizona has acquired North American manufacturing and marketing rights for the product. Soltron is a fuel enhancing fluid that works using enzymes.
