The Japanese funding agency is happy with the implementation of the first phase of Tamil Nadu Afforestation Programme (TAP) and has conveyed its willingness to extend financial assistance for the second phase also. According to senior officials, under the first phase, spread over five years, the Forest department adopted 200 villages per year and the programme was implemented in about 1,000 villages.
