The compressor station of GAIL at Hazira won the prestigious 'Golden Peacock Award for Occupational Health and Safety - 2008'. The award was presented to GAIL at the Global Convention on Climate Change in Himachal Pradesh. The recognition is an acknowledgement of GAIL's various initiatives in the field of Occupational Health and Safety. GAIL has always given top priority to Health Safety and Environment (HSE) in its operations and has and impeccable record. GAIL attaches great importance to HSE in its plants, pipeline systems and work centres as also in the community and its work environment. GAIL follows the guidelines and stipulations issued by the concerned Indian statutory agencies and regulatory bodies like the Central Pollution Control Board and the State Pollution Control Boards with regards to environment. GAIL Gas Ltd's business plan to be finalised The first Board meeting of GAIL's 100 per cent subsidiary, GAIL Gas Ltd, was held recently. The meeting was chaired by GAIL Chairman and Managing Director, Dr UD Choubey, who is also the ex-officio Chairman of GAIL Gas Ltd. Commenting on the development, Dr Choubey said that the next decade belongs to city gas distribution and subsidiary company would help in giving a major focus to this area. The setting up of the subsidiary will also help in part for compliance of requirement of unbundling of the business for GAIL.
