The closure of upper Ganga canal will have effect of adding fuel to fire. An already deteriorating water situation in Delhi will turn into a major crisis, with south and east Delhi becoming the worst affected. The upper Ganga canal which feeds water to the Bhagirathi treatment plant has been shut down.
