The water of the Ganges is more fit for taking a holy dip than it used to be 20 years ago, despite unrelenting discharge of effluents by some of the rogue cities along its banks. Not only the holy river has become better for bathing but there is also more oxygen to breathe for the river life, according to figure available with the Environment and Forests Ministry.
