Residents of Agra will soon have respite from water crisis. The city, with a population of 20 million would soon be served with Gangajal, supplied from Tihri through a pipeline. In a meeting held in Delhi, Cabinet Secretary V K Chaturvedi approved the laying out of the pipeline between Palra Falls in Bulandshehar to Agra Water Works (AWW). Agra Divisional Commissioner, Ashok Kumar said the project shall begin within two months after the submission of the Detailed Project Report (DPR). The project is likely to be completed in two years. The sub-soil water in Agra is heavily laced with fluoride and people are largely depended on the water supplied by AWW.
