Australian scientists have announced that they have developed the world's first gene map for prawns, as the first step towards developing bigger, faster growing Crustaceans. The team from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) said the genetic linkage map was the first for any Crustaceans species and would be used to identify traits of flesh quality, disease resistance and growth rate.
