Get rewarded for info on power thefts

Hisar- As many as 1360 cases of power theft have been detected and a penalty of Rs 2.80 crore has been recovered under the Power Theft Informer Scheme launched by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN). A senior Nigam official said 40 per cent of the recovered amount of penalty imposed on detection of electricity theft will be given to the person who gives information of the theft. Twenty per cent of the amount will be given to the officers and staff of the Nigam who detect theft and collect the penalty. Thus, a total 60 per cent of penalty's amount will be given as award and incentive. Expressing satisfaction over the information about power theft pouring in, he said it has been very successful in checking power pilferage and improving power situation. A minimum amount of Rs 1,000 per case would be given immediately to the informer who provides correct information of the theft. The informer will not be required to reveal his identity. Information can be given to the DHBVN on the number 01662-221527 or toll free number 16001801011. The informer would also give a secret code to claim the award.
