The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is all set to unveil Ghazipur Meat Processing Plant with a trial run starting from Wednesday. Mr Vijender Gupta, chairman, standing committee, said that a team of eight experts from Germany was already providing training to the MCD staff as well as outside professionals. "Around 60 butchers are being trained in handling the new equipment. The trial run will be held as part of training,' he said. An MCD delegation found the plant in a position to start with a trial run after they undertook an inspection of the complex to take stock of the project. "We have directed that the training of the personnel should take place in a cocoordinated manner so as to ensure that the plant runs smoothly not only during trial run but also when it becomes fully operational,' Mr Gupta said. To begin with, Mr Gupta said, 20 animals will be brought from the transYamuna live stock market to be processed. The number will be raised gradually during the trial, to last about 30 days. He said that the Supreme Court will subsequently be provided with a progress report of the project. "We hope that clean, wholesome and hygienic meat will be produced with the help of ante mortem and post mortem inspection by qualified veterinary surgeons backed by a fully equipped laboratory support,' he added.
