Planning for more and more parking is not likely to help in the long run since the number of vehicles on Delhi's roads is growing dramatically. The city needs a good public transport system at the earliest

Delhi has over 18 lakh private vehicles on its roads but parking space to accommodate only about 25,000. Even as civic bodies like Municipal Corporation of Delhi and New Delhi Municipal Council are now turning to multi-level parking lots and area-wise parking rates to tide over the space crunch, transportation experts feel this is no solution to the Capital's parking mess.
