To find out a permanent solution of the prolonged and acute water scarcity suffering by the people living in the areas like Shantipur, Fatasil, Bishnupur, Kalapahar, Bhaskarnagar, Birubari and Odalbakra in the city, a proposal for setting up a water treatment plant by utilizing the river Brahmaputra as the natural source of water under the JNURM is under construction of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation.
