GoM clears Mumbai slum plan

India 's largest slum relocation project, which involves 42,000 dwellings, is all set to take-off. The group of ministers (GoM) cleared the proposal to reclaim salt land in Mumbai to build seven-storied buildings to relocate these slums. The proposal is now likely go to the cabinet for final clearance by December-end. If it gets speedy clearance, Prime Minister Vajpayee may be asked to announce commencement of work on this project on January 26.
