Federal and provincial governments had formed a project worth million of rupees to introduce virus free types but even after the passage of 16 years all the research institutions of the country failed to invent virus free type. Last year the crops were attacked by different viruses including mealy bug, which resulted the loss of million of rupees. This year too the crops on thousands of acres in different cities of southern Punjab including Vehari, Mailsi, Khanewal, Shujabad and others are under the attack of different virus. The attack of white fly is especially increasing and all the sprays proved to be useless to control the attack of white fly. But on the other hand, the field staff of agriculture department is asking farmers to use this old method against attack of different virus which is a failure. Copyright Business Recorder, 2008
