Government to form policies promoting use of 'green' vehicles

  • 27/12/1997

In an effort to make good on a promise to improve air quality, the Ministry of Transport in Japan, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the Environment Agency will jointly design policies to promote vehicles that emit fewer greenhouse gases and other harmful particles. These governmental departments plan to establish model districts where so-called clean-energy vehicles are promoted as a main means of transportation, and to encourage sale of hybrid, electric and natural-gas-powered cars through tax breaks and subsidies.
