Jamshedpur, March 8: Grappling with an acute land crunch, the Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada), which is keen to expand base, has identified about 400 acres of government land in Baharagora and Seraikela in East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts, respectively. The industrial authority turned its attention on government land after three-year-long attempt to acquire some 700 acres of riyati (private) land in Gamharia proved futile because villagers either bluntly refused to part with their ancestral property or put forth umpteen preconditions. According to Aiada secretary Shivendra Singh, the industrial authority will get the required land in these districts soon after it completes certain government procedures with the revenue department. He added that once the process of acquisition of government land was over, they would develop infrastructure like roads, drains and a water supply system at the new site. Singh said the areas where they had identified government land in Seraikela were very close to Gamharia while acres selected in Baharagora were along NH-33.
