In the last few days the Ministry has rolled back two decisions to control vehicular emissions. The Transport Ministry decided that to test the fitness of a vehicle, a Motor Vehicles Inspector (MVI) would take the test, which would take the test, which would again be conducted by a Chief MVI. Those vehicles would be issued a fitness certificate, which would clear both tests. The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) feels that scrapping the ban on old vehicles is a political move as the Delhi Government did not want to compromise on votes in the forthcoming elections.
