Govt firm, says no exemption under no-smoking law

With the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare determined to implement the rule of no smoking at all public places, including restaurants, hotels, pubs and discotheques, the hotel industry approached the former on Thursday, asking for various exemptions under the new rule.
The ministry, however, firm on its decision, handed over a five-page report, with a comprehensive review of available studies on the economic impact of smoke-free workplace laws to the representatives of hotel industry.
