Govt mulling drought policy, says CM

The Himachal Pradesh government is considering to formulate a drought policy, revise the relief manual and set up a separate disaster management authority to effectively deal with natural calamities. Stating this while addressing senior officers during a review meeting of the Revenue Department here last evening, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said there was an urgent need for a drought policy to provide adequate relief to the affected people. The relief manual also required to be revised to ensure reasonable compensation to the victims, he observed.
