Government offices will be encouraged to buy banboo products and furniture to cut down on the use of wood which is hastening the depletion of the forest cover. The project has been discussed with several ministries and the ministry of defence has already agreed to buy more of bamboo products. A committee to help in promotion of bamboo-based products has also been set up.
