Faced with energy shortage, the government is pressing ahead with 12 major hydel projects. The projects are all scheduled to be completed by 2002.The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), which will execute five projects - three in Himachal Pradesh and one each in Manipur and Sikkim - has invited global bids for the 200 mw Chamera Stage II project in Himachal.
