Realising the failure of traditional government mechanism in responding to natural disasters, the Government now wants to involve the corporate sector for better delivery of safety and rehabilitation of the people in disaster prone areas. "I commit our Government to developing a robust disaster management system, working in close collaboration with the corporate sector, with community-based organisations and the scientific and academic community," Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Wednesday addressing a conference of the first Disaster Management Congress on Wednesday.
