The Gujarat government has decided to probe the alleged large-scale felling of mangroves along the coast of Mundra in Kutch district. The assurance to investigate into the alleged felling of "lakhs of mangroves" to "ensure enthusiastic implementation of the policy of port-led industrialisation" was given by principal secretary (environment and forests) P Basu to the forum for planned industrialisation -- an apex body of senior Kutch-based environmentalists in Mundra.
