Under pressure from Congress MLAs, the Delhi Government has decided to regularise commercial activity in residential areas. This comes days after the government notified 16 residential areas to be redeveloped as industrial estates. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced the move after a three-and-a-half hour Congress Legislature Party meeting. The meeting was called after Subhash Chopra, Congress MLA from Kalkaji, asked for a discussion on the commercial use of residential properties and the use of farmhouses for weddings.
