The Congress alleged that owing to indiscreet decision of Chief Minister Raman Singh, BJP Government in the State has exhausted over Rs 1,000 crore of tax payer's money for producing diesel from jatropha but the scheme is completely failed to yield its desired result. In a Press statement here on Sunday Congress chief Nandkumar Patel and Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Ravindra Chaubey said that had the State Government removed the vat tax from petroleum substances then common people would have been benefited directly and got petrol, diesel and LPG at lower rate till 2 years. The slogan like “Diesel nahi khhadi se, ab diesel milega badi se” given by State Government is surely music to ear but on the ground of reality it proved in vain. The leaders said BJP Government had invited then President APJ Kalam for sapling plantation program during which saplings of jatropha worth Rs 17 lakh were planted at Sundar Kera of New Raipur. Now even the trace of jatropha is not visible over there. Singh had announced that all vehicles of State Government will be driven by biodiesel but that announcement seems to have gone in oblivion, they added. They further charged BJP Government for spending over Rs 250 lakh to set 5 biodiesel plants across the State without doing any initial assessment to produce biodiesel from Jetrobhp. On the contrary several cases of death of children caused by consuming jatropha seeds have been reported around the state, they asserted.
