For an ordinary citizen of Margao, Goa, Monte Dongor (hill) is synonymous with slum dwellers, hutments and illegal constructions inhabited by the migrants. Stench emanates all around, there is no sewage disposal worth the name and unsanitary conditions pervades the area situated on the hillock overlooking the city. But, not any more, as the government is working on a package which promises some measure to provide the basic amenities to the slum dwellers, leave alone undertaking reconstruction of the area.
