Green cover dwindling

The green patches in Uttar Pradesh are dwindling alarmingly despite all the efforts and strategies to improve the dismal rate of growth of forests all over the state. With innumerable NGOs and a staff strength of more than 1500, including 200 IFS officers, the progress report on this front does not sound good. There is only 2% of forest cover in Uttar Pradesh as against the statutory requirement of 33%.
