Chasing deadlines with low gas Bottlenecks In CNG Availability Affect Complete Switchover To Clean Fuel Neha Shukla | TNN Lucknow: CNG is on its way to become the most widely used fuel in the city, courtesy air quality management plan of Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) which envisages use of better quality fuel to check air pollution. Out of 7,188 public transport vehicles plying on the city roads, 6,166 have already been converted to CNG mode. The figures of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) as of June 30, 2008 show remaining 1,000 vehicles as diesel-driven, a major chunk of which is comprised of buses. However, the success of all this depends on the government doing away with the infrastructural bottlenecks in availability of CNG. According to sources in RTO, the deadline for the CNG conversion of buses has been fixed for September 30.
