The road widening projects of the PWD, Jammu, seem to be casting their shadows on the green gold, with much of the plantation being destroyed in the bid to widen roads and case congestion. JDA, when questioned about the 'disappearnce' of these trees expressed ignorance over the issue and denied the presence of any Chinar trees at the said venue. However, some locals, fear that the unregulated felling of trees was disturbing the environment and also contracting the 'beautification drive' launched by the government.
