On the occasion of its first anniversary, iNaturewatch Foundation, an environment organisation, will survey societies who can register with them for a green audit. The audit will focus on concerns like waste, energy and water management, green cover, urban biodiversity and environmental awareness. The foundation will also invite suggestions and objections about its report. The organisation decided to launch this initiative taking a cue from Swachh Bharat Abhiyan that promotes waste segregation and composting in housing societies. "We started the foundation a year ago and the initiative is called Free Green Health Check-Up," said founder Dr V Shubhalaxmi. The initiative has gone beyond waste segregation, she said. "It includes other objectives like conserving water, energy, green spaces, biodiversity and environment literacy. The housing societies will be assessed based on these parameters," she added. Each housing society interested in the survey will have to fill up a form, followed by a site visit by representatives of the foundation. "The reports will also include tips like development of compost pits, butterfly and medicinal gardens, solar and rainwater harvesting systems, planting trees to attract birds, creating environmental awareness among residents," Dr Shubhalaxmi said. The aim of this initiative is to make Navi Mumbaikars sensitive to their immediate surroundings. The audit will focus on concerns like waste, energy and water management, green cover, urban biodiversity and environmental awareness
