Green groups attack forest deal

Forestry agreements to be signed today by the state and federal government do nothing to protect the environment and lock in old-growth forests woodchipping for the next 20 years, environment groups maintain. Friends of the Earth national liason officer Cam Walker said the outcome of the regional forestry agreements did not "look good" because they entrenched woodchipping and high-volume commercial logging in the state's west for the next 20 years.
