'Green tractor scheme' being processed in Punjab

Punjab government has launched "green tractor scheme" with an objective to promote agriculture sector and in this regard application/form process is in progress across the province. According to agriculture sources, the government will deliver tractors to small farmers at subsidised rates and for this purpose the government will offer subsidy of Rs 0.2 million per tractor, a private television channel reported. The government will deliver 10,000 tractors to peasants in line with green tractor scheme. He further disclosed that application forms were available from DDO (R) offices while paying Rs 250 for each form. Tractors would be given to farmers having a piece of land ranging from five to 25 acres, he said, and added that defaulters of Agriculture Development Bank would not avail of this facility. He further maintained that tractors would be allotted to farmers after ballot.
