The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) have expressed doubts about the efficacy of pollution under control (PUC) tests being conducted at various petrol pumps in the city of Delhi. The CPCB has suggested to the Ministry of Surface Transport and the Environmental Pollution Control Authority a better maintenance-and-inspection programme for vehicles and enforcement of certain standards by the vehicle manufacturers.
