Forest Depat.'s claims contested: Even as the Forest Departments claims to have achieved 50 per cent of its target in implementing 'Greenbelt pollution Abatement' programme in the city and suburbs, various organisations involved in the programme have raised "serious doubts" about the department's acheivement. Under the programme, which was launched on June 3 to coincide with the Cheif Minister, Mr M Karunanidhi's birthday, 1.30 lakh saplings had to be planted in the city and its suburbs.
