Greens' back in the spotlight, the government has proposed linking the ambitious greening India programme with food-for-work to enhance forest cover to 33 per cent by 2012. A planning commission taskforce on Greening India has indicated that the fund requirement for the programme would be Rs 48000 crore in 10 years by the setting up of a green India Fund.
