Greenpeace protested against Chilean plans to allow a major logging project in the rain forest of the far southern Tierra Del Fuego region. Members of the group demonstrated in the capital in front of the National Environment Commission, which recently approved a proposal for the logging firm Trillium to cut down up to 82 per cent of the 273,000 hectares of Tierra Del Fuego rain forest over the next century.
